# Rootz Archive

> Rootz Archive keeps an exact, byte-for-byte copy of every Claude Code conversation (including what came before each compaction, sub-agent conversations and every file Claude edits) on your own computer, and lets your AI search it. It is free for individual users, needs no account, and sends nothing to Rootz.

- Free for individual users; workgroups are paid, later.
- Install: claude plugin marketplace add rootz-global/rootz-archive, then claude plugin install rootz-archive@rootz, then /rootz-archive:accept in a new Claude Code session.
- Needs Node.js 22.13 or newer. Captures Claude Code (terminal and VS Code). Other AI tools (Claude desktop app, Cursor, Windsurf / Devin Desktop, VS Code + GitHub Copilot, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI) can search the archive through MCP; see the table on the page for what is tested.
- Archive files live under ~/.rootz-archive/vault. It is not a backup service.
- Rootz Desktop opens the same archive and adds semantic search, blockchain timestamps and backup.
